We get such crazy ideas in our head that are often told to us by the media or our grandparents, myths that carry down from perhaps different times or a single report that is proven untrue, after which we are told nothing. Here is a fun infographic to share with you four common food myths which simply aren’t true.

In case you can’t see the image, here is a summary:

  • MYTH #1: “If I microwave food, the microwaves kill the bacteria, so the food is safe.”
  • MYTH #2: “Of course I wash all bagged lettuce and greens because it might make me sick if I don’t.”
  • MYTH #3: “I don’t need to use a food thermometer. I can tell when my food is cooked by looking at it or checking the temperature with my finger.”
  • MYTH #4: “I can’t re-freeze foods after I have thawed them – I have to cook them or throw them away.”

{Oh, I am thinking I had better pull my meat thermometer  out of the bottom of my kitchen gadget drawer! See Myth #2.)
